How the trainer works
The trainer places you off the course and gives you a radial or bearing to join.
Pick an intercept angle and a wind-corrected heading. Too shallow and you never arrive; too steep and you overshoot.
Judge the roll-out from the closure rate. You are graded on heading selection, intercept angle and tracking accuracy.

What intercept angle should I use?
It depends on how far off course you are and how much track you have left. A 30 degree intercept is the common default for a radial you are close to; larger displacements justify a steeper angle. The trainer grades the choice so you learn where the boundaries sit.
Can I practise intercepts for free?
Not properly. The free tier is a single VOR read on the HSI, so you can fly an intercept by hand but nothing sets one up or scores it. The randomised scenarios and grading are the Pro trainer, which is included in the 7-day cardless free trial.
